About Mopani

Mopani is a rich, reddish-brown colored hardwood streaked with thin dark colored figuring. It's an ideal turning wood and possesses extremely favorable tonal qualities, making it an ideal candidate for the creation of woodwind instruments. It has a very high natural oil content and polishes to a beautiful finish. Mopani is often used in flooring, furniture, inlay work, turnery and local construction. It is now available for online purchase as turning blanks as well as in a number of exotic wood assortments containing other premium hardwoods in addition to Mopani.

TEXTURE: Mopani has a very fine texture with small pores.

DURABILITY: Mopani exhibits a high degree of resistance to insects and decay.
BLUNTING EFFECT: Because of its high density, Mopani is considered extremely difficult to work, with a significant blunting effect on cutting edges.
